I am having problems understanding what happens to electrons once they have exited a reisitor. For example, lets say you a very simple circuit - a 12V battery with a single bulb attached using a couple of wires. Now let's imagine the 'go' and 'return' wires have 0 resistance. If you was to now place a multimeta on the terminals each side of the bulb, it would read 12V - incidating that ALL the volage has dropped across the bulb. This is what I don't understand - if voltage is the moving 'force' and all the 'force' is used-up pushing the electrons through the bulb, then what is giving the electrons the 'force' or 'power' to return down the wire and back into the battery if all their kinetic engery has been used getting through the bulb?

A force of 15N acts on a 5kg mass, another force of 6N acts in the opposite direction. If mass is initially at rest, find the time rate of change of momentum.

I'm unsure what formula to use. Of course, the prof gives homework questions COMPLETELY different from what we did in class and has us all confused!

The question asks:
Find the acceleration of a car whose initial speed is 30 m/s and slows uniformly to 10 m/s in 5 seconds. Then, determine the distance it travels in the 3rd second (t=2 to t=3).
Is this right?
a) Acceleration:
10m/s -30m/s / 0s - 5s = -20m/s / -5m/s = 4m/s^2

b)Distance:
X3= 30m/s(3s) + 1/2(4m/s^2)(3s)^2 = 90m+18m= 108m
X2= 30m/s(2s) + 1/2(4m/s^2)(2s)^2 = 60m+ 8m = 68m
X =108-68=40m

A 10kg box rests ona ramp that is laying flat. The coefficient of static friction ( µs ) is 0.50, and the coefficient of kinetic friction ( µk) is 0.30.....

what is the force (Fp) necessary to keep the box sliding at a CONSTANT VELOCITY?

I'm not really sure how to work this problem...this is the only thing i could come up with, but I dont think its right...could check this plz?

∑Fy = Fn - Fg = 0 , therefore
Fn = Fg = mg = 10kg*9.8m/s2 = 98N

∑Fx = Fp - Ffk = 0, therefore
Fp = Ffk = µk(Fn) = 0.30 (98N) = 29.4N


The reason why I think there might be something wrong with this is b/c i calculated the max static friction (Ffs) to be 49N...Im really confused could someone plz help me?
