Why cant you get a sun burn behind glass this has always confused me

Sunburns are caused by UV light. Regular glass does not allow UV light to pass through it.

The glass used in car windows usually does not block all the UV light, so people with sun roofs can disagree all they want.

I've never heard this before, but to answer your question I'll assume it's true...
The UV rays of the sun (UV A and B) are what cause sunburns. So, assuming you're right about glass protecting you from sunburns, then the glass has to have some way of reflecting or absorbing the UV light.

You can. Unless the glass is specially treated to filter out UV light, you can get a sunburn.

Actually you can get a sunburn behind glass, it has happened to me and to people I know.

depends what kind of glass, but glass will block some UV rays, lowering exposure to UV lowers sunburning

probably because the glass dissolves all the sun rays or uv rays....
