If you had a tub of super cold ice water, and you heated up a small amount of water to the point where it bubbles, than you emptied the small amount of water into the tub, what would happen? would the cold water bubble? what would be it's physical and chemical reaction?

Solar power can supply most of the power required for all of the United States with tech. growing and pricing becoming more attractive, the reason we do not all have it or better why it is not pushed is.. How would the state and federal make any tax money on something we all own?

If we all used Solar power like Germany is starting to, we would save more power for our own uses and sell it back to the power company, even sell more back them they would need to make, making them unneeded (as they already are)

The only way the United States will switch to Solar power is if the Goverment can tax it like it does the oil, oil tax is the base of the many projects and pays those very high pay check in Washington.

If you agree, what can we do as a nation?

if you do not agree, tell me why.

We have to know how to make power a non-issue, reduce oil need which will lower the price.

The goverment knows this, but we don't we change things?

Now and again the two poles change place! During the course of the last 5 million years this has happened around 25 times. Approximately 720,000 years have passed sine the poles last changed around and the phenomenon will certainly repeat itself, we just don’t know when. The dynamo in the Earth’s interior is unstable such that on occasion the field weakens, loses its bipolar character and regenerates with reversed polarity. It is believed that the reversal process takes several thousand years, but some modern opinions suggest a shorter time. We can only imagine the confusion when the compasses of the world suddenly turn a half circle! Does it effect the planet in any way? if so, how?

We found a large piece of fossilised wood on a fossil walk in the Isle of Wight on holiday last year.

We don't know much about it other then what the tour guide told us...it is 125 million years old...it has to be kept in water or it will rust...it cannot be kept with living creatures (fish, turtles etc) as it will kill them.

Basically we want to klnow a bit more about what it is and what it's worth as at the moment it is in an otherwise empty fish tank sat in the corner of the room taking up space (and we're sick of having to fish things out when they fall in!)

We are moving in July and don't really want to lug it along with us unless it's worth holding on to and we wouldn't know where to start with selling it anyway!

It is about 60-70cm long and 10cm wide and has a coating of fools gold on the top. It was found on the beach just north of Sandown on the Isle of Wight.

Thanks :o)

Most of us have heard about species which haven't even been discovered yet being extinguished as the rain forest is being destroyed at an incredible rate.

It's a common point of discussion, and valid I think, to mention the possible cures and treatments that are being lost forever as these species vanish.

There are many other aspects of the loss of the rain forest, but I'd like to stick to this one:

In light of possible medical benefits, should more be done to explore the rain forests befor they are almost all gone?

I am a high school teacher at a private Christian school and our Science books inform the students that 2 electrons fill the k-level in the electron orbitals, 8 fill the l-level, and 8 fill the m-level. However, it doesn't specify how many it takes to fill the next level and I'm wondering if it's different for the different types of atoms. Anyone know? Can you clarify it for me so I can clarify it for my student?

First I must say I don't belong to any religious group. The Evolution Theory tells us that fish and human have the same ancestor. This is what bothers me: Fish heart has 2 chambers and only 2 blood vessels (1 in and 1 out). But human heart has 4 chambers and stunning 12 blood vessels (6 in and 6 out). I don't think even the most powerful weapon in Evolution Theory, the mutation, can explain that. Can you?

If the big bang happened from an explosion of matter from a central place, where it was super-condensed, why would gravity alone not keep it together? I mean, all the matter is there, so why would gravity not simply keep all that matter together, as it would've been the only area with spacetime that could have a pull?

My apologies if this is poorly written, I'm by no means anywhere near a scientist.

If you took the pre-big bang concentrated universe, packed into it's smallest possible amount, and removed all heat and movement from it, would that have stopped it's expansion?

My cousin has this question for his science class's discussion tomorrow.. What do you think is the answer?

You decide to find a mysterious fabled creature, a type of lizard who lives in a large field in Asia. When you get there, you find not 1, but 2 species of the lizard there. You find that a very large crevice had opened up along one small part of the valley, not allowed anything to cross it. In the isolated part of the valley, you find that the lizards are much bigger and eat the tree's bark (they have something in their bodies that allows them to digest the bark). In the other are, you find smaller lizards that cannot eat the tree bark, but rather eat flowers.

How is it possible that the 1 species diverged into the 2 found today in the field?

Ok all. I am at my wits end. For the last 6 years my p.o.s. neighbor has run a daycare. The "people" running this mad house don't watch the kids when they are outside, the little muthers continuously throw stuff over the 10' privacy fence I put up, I turned them into the cops and lo and behold, she is related to them. I have had to remove one of the offenders from my property by gun point. They killed one of my dogs by throwing a brick over the fence and hit her in the spine. I am ready to go postal on these P.O.S.'s. I live on a one way street and the parents of the little bastards that go to the daycare block my driveway and other neighbors driveways. I finally snapped one night and used my old truck and bashed into one of the cars parked at the bottom of my driveway. The cops couldnt do anything because they were parked in a no parking zone. I just said I couldnt see the car and wasnt expecting it to be there considering it is a no parking zone. Cops were pissed at me.
