Why does Genetic Programming converge ?

Question

I am having difficulty finding a " formal proof" that GP does converge to a global maximum. I know that for Genetic Algorithm there is the Schema Theorem .Since GP represent individuals as trees , I dont see how the proof for GA can be applied to GP

I'd be surprised if there is a proof because I'd be surprised if it always converges.
