In the main page of the science portal of Wikipedia there is a statement that, "Science typically, therefore, rejects...arguments from authority..." The link to the subtitled article, "Conditions for a legitimate argument from authority" has the statement:

"A technique is needed to adjudicate disagreements among equally qualified authorities. If scientific testing of the claim is not possible, then the majority of expert opinions is sometimes used to develop a consensus."

Do you consider this to be an accurate statement?

There was a scientist who proved that the bias of the experimentor had a direct effect on the results of an experiment. He did this by placing before his subjects a frame that was designed to have a ball baring put in the top. The ball baring would then either pop to the left or to the right. After that, the ball baring fell to a second junction where again it could go left or right. If it went right first time and left second or vica versa it would be beneath the entrance hole.

This structructure carried on in this way forming a triangle. The ball barings were more likely to end up in the centre than they were to end up at the edge.

The scientist whos name eludes me asked his subjects to 'will' the ball barings one way. He would then ascertain through probability theory whether the ball barings had, in fact, skewed.

Remarkably, he found that they had. And when he asked his subjects to will them the other way they did.

Sound familiar? What was his name?

I'd like to know if I can read scientific journals online? I've read many research papers and there're so many references cited at the end. If I'm doing my thesis, how do I search for facts? I can't be reading all the journals from page to page.
Thanks in advance.

Polls show that a higher percentage of Americans believe in Creationism and reject evolution than any other industrialized nation in the world today. Statistics on student performance in schools, particularly in science and mathematics, ranks far behind the industrialized nations of the world. Is there a connection?

I would like to see some illustrations on these giant bugs. I've found a little bit of written information, but nothing exciting, and not one photo when researching on the internet. I would think this would be a fascinating topic and that there would be alot of research material out there, but I'm not finding any! Anyone know of any?

for my science fair, im not sure how to do my graphs, beacuse ok, im comparing vitamin c in different fruit juices, and how i compared it was by color, so like i have tomato juice freshly squeezed and tomato juice store bought, and one had lighter color which had more vitamin c and the other was darker meaning it had less, and so i had a total of 6 different juices like that, but i dont know how to make a graph for them..

Imagine a chain of people holding hands the longest ever. So the first answerer says ONE and the next TWO and so on. Will the chain of people be long and who will be the first to say the wrong number? The 10 points goes to the number drawn at random so good luck.
