Hi, I'm having trouble with my calculus... If someone can help me with either one of these problems, it would be very helpful.

a.) The cost of operating a bus between Moose Jaw and Saskatoon is 100+5x, where x is the number of passengers. If a ticket costs $20 there will be 10 passengers, while if a tickets costs $15, there will be 20 passengers. Assuming the demand function is linear, what is the Maximum profit?

b.) A lakefront runs east-west. A man in a rowboat is 5 miles due north of point A on the shor. He wishes to get to B, 5 miles due east of A, in the least time. He is able to row 3 miles per hour and walk 5 hour. What is the minimum time for the trip in minutes?

Okay so I don't understand this.

The problem is to solve the equation in the indicated domain

the equation is :
the cosine 3 theta times the cosine of twelve degrese minus the sine of 3 theta times the sine of twelve degrees equals one half. The domain is fomr -90 to 90 degreese and you have to find the general solution and use the general soltuion to find the critial points within the domain

I really don't understand this so if you could help me that would be great!

The problem says "You like to drive to a special store to buy your favorite gourmet jelly beans for a low price of $1.30 a pound. However, your best friend points out that you are spending about $3 on gas every time you drive to that store and that you might as well buy your jelly beans at your local supermarket for $2.10 a pound. You decided to show him that you are getting enough jelly beans to make it worth the trip.

The first question (part A) asks me to let X represent the number of pounds of jelly beans and to write an equation to determine the total cost, C, if I buy them at the special store. I wrote:

C=1.30X+3

Then (part B) it asks me to write an equation to determine the total cost, C, if I buy the jelly beans at the local supermarket. I wrote:

C=2.10X

Those are both right

But this is where I get stuck….

It says “The two equations in part A and part B form a system of two linear equations. Solve this system using an algebraic approach.”

I don’t know how to do this!!

Does anyone know the proof of this theorem:
If line l is parallel to line m, and m is parallel to line n, then l is parallel to n or l is equal to n.

I would LOVE a paragraph proof, but a column proof would also help. Thanks!
