On a road trip, five friends drove at 50 miles per hour to California. On the way home, they took the same route but drove 75 miles per hour. How many miles did they drive on the way to California if the round trip took 10 hours?

don't give me the answer, just the steps.
thanks!

Okay, my class is now doing arc lengths and the hardest part of it is taking the integral of a function in the square root. Any function inside the square root with a polynomial greater than 1 is something that cant be done. The only trick i found so far is trying to factor it.

Like one example is taking the integral of say.....

sqrt ((x^2+4x+4)

What i did was change the function and make it look like this....

sqrt ((x + 2)^2)

^^^^ that one is the same as sqrt ((x^2+4x+4)

So the square root and the square cancels out and I just take the integral of (x + 2) instead.

But now, what if you cant do that anymore? If you cant solve it like that anymore?

Is there a way to taking integrals of a function inside a square root? Like say the integral of the square root of (sinx e^x)

How do you do that?

Hello everyone, need some help with some math exercises.

1-) Which ordered pair is a solution to the system?
-2x+7y=31
5x-11y=-45
I answered (2,5)

2-) Solve the system using the graphing method.
x+y=8
3x+y=20
I answered No Solution

3-) Solve the system using the substitution method.
y=5x+7
-3y+15x=-8
I got (7,-8)

4-) Solve the equations using the most convenient method.
8x-4y=6
16x=8y+12
Got ( 8,4 )

5-) If z(t)=2t.square+7t-4, find z(-1) and z(2)
This one im stumped.

Thanks for the help.

I have a spreadsheet with 3 columns. A contains an importance factor, a number from 1 to 5. B contains a percentage, the amount of the completed task. C contains the number of days it is taking to do/finish the task.

taskA 3|67%|30
taskB 1|98%|70

I want a total completed percentage for the project, where the project is made of those two tasks.

I can do it for 1 factor. For instance, with days as the weight:
=B1*C1/($C$1+$C$2)+B2*C2/($C$1+$C$2)
or 89% complete
But how do I factor the fact that taskB is less important (it's value is 1)? Thank you!

I'm working on a very difficult Calc. II project involving divergent and convergent integrals. I was wondering if anyone knew of a website that listed divergent or convergent integrals. Or, if you could help me out with this problem:

the integral of F(x) from 1 to infinity is divergent, the integral of G(x) from 1 to infinity is divergent, and the integral of F(x) - G(x) from 1 to infinity is convergent. I have to find two functions that will fit into this problem. I have tired numberous things and have come up with nothing. Thanks everyone.
