I think we need the diagram associated with this problem to be able to give you any accurate help here...

Easy! And I don't even know the details! It's like this:

Quadrant I if x > 0 and y > 0.
Quadrant II if x < 0 and y > 0.
Quadrant III if x < 0 and y < 0.
Quadrant IV if x > 0 and y < 0.

How about this: starting with the upper right quadrant, the quadrants are numbered counterclockwise:

2 | 1
--------
3 | 4

Now you can answer the question yourself.
(what a strange concept.)

C is the answer the equation for the force between two charged particles is F = K(Q1 x Q2)/(R^2), where Q1 and Q2 are the charges of each particle and R is the distance between them. A and B affect whether Q1 and Q2 are positive or negative, so they affect the direction (the sign) of the force. D is the value for R, so that affects the magnitude of the force. E is the value for Q2, so that affects the magnitude of the force. C has no part in the equation, because we are only talking about the force between particle A and particle B. So although particle C affects the total force on particles A and B, it does not affect the force between A and B.

Do you think maybe there is a little more to this problem than you are telling us about?

But based on the answer choices, there is twice the chance of II being right as any other answer.

You can't solve that without the coordinates to point C.

LOL i love it how its mentioned "thanks" at the end
Dude what are the coordinates of C?

If x and y coordinates both are positive then C is in 1st quad.
if x is negative and y is positive, then 2nd quad.
x negative, y negative then 3rd quad.
and
x positive, y negative then 4th quad.
