PROBLEM 1:

(5 x^3 y^8)^3
-------------------
... 5 x^5

In the numerator, distribute the ^3 through (by multiplying exponents). 5 is tricky, so don't miss that it becomes 5^3.

5^3 x^9 y^24
-------------------
... 5 x^5

Now cancel exponents top and bottom by subtracting:
5^2 x^4 y^24

PROBLEM 2:

Multiply this out using FOIL method (First, Outer, Inner, Last)

First:
4x * 4x = 16x²

Outer:
4x * -4y = -16xy

Inner:
5y * 4x = 20xy

Last:
5y * -4y = -20y²

Putting them all together (combine the xy terms):
16x² + 4xy - 20y²

Problem 1.
Multiplying exponents for the power
(5x^9y^24)/(5x^5)
Dividing coefficients and subtracting exponents for the division.
x^4y^24
Problem 2
16x^2 -16xy +20xy -20y^2
16x^2 +4xy -20y^2

125x^9 y^24 / 5x^5
25x^4y^24
thats as simple as you can get
-------------------------------------------------
16x^2-16xy+20xy-20y^2
16x^2-20y^2+4xy
4x^2-5y^2+xy
thats simplified the last step you have to reduce the equation by dividing the whole thing by a common factor of 4

(5x^3)^3=5x^9
(y^8)^3=y^24
=5x^9y^24 / 5x^5
=x^4y^24

(4x+5y)(4x-4y)
16x^2-16xy+20xy-20y^2
16x^2-20y^2+4xy
