I don't necessarily need the answer, but I just need to know how to find the answer here.

A car is traveling on a curve that forms a circular arc. The force F needed to keep the car from skidding is jointly proportional to the weight w of the car and the square of its speed s, and is inversely proportional to the radius r of the curve.

A car weighing 1600 lb travels around a curve at 60 mi/h. The next car to round this curve weighs 2500 lb and requires the same force as the first car to keep from skidding. How fast is the second car traveling?

We assume that Y is a non-empty set and we say that ~ be an equivalence relation on Y. We let W be the set of distinct equivalence classes given by ~. prove that elements of W are disjoint and their union is all of Y.

Say you have a problem like..

3x+2=y
2x+11y=3

Now i know you need to get the variables lined up in order to do that. Now would it be just the same thing like switching the variables and keeping the signs? or would you be changing the sings.. This is what i did.. let me know if im right.

3x+y=2
2x+11y=3

Or would it be something like...

3x-y=-2
2x+11y=3

Let me know.. not looking for what x and y equal.. Just how you would start out to solve it.

Can you explain the answer?

You have 4 cards, labeled with the letters A and D and the numerals 3 and 6. The rule of the game is that a card with a vowel on it always has an even number on the other side. How many cards do you need to turn over to prove the rule true?

The answer is 2 - the A card and the 3 card, but I don't understand the answer. I would think either 1 card (just the A) or all 4 would be needed. If it only matters what is on the "opposite" side, then only the "A" card matters for the rule, and the others are irrelevant. If the rule matters going both ways, then it seems like any of the cards could disprove the rule. The 6 card could have a consonant under it, disproving the rule, or the D card have an even number under it, disproving the rule.

I just don't get it.

Thanks for any help.
