I was watching a Discovery Channel show about the geography of America. Of course, many of our features were shaped by the glaciers receeding when the last Ice Age ended. The show repeatedly mentions the receeding glaciers, but they do not explain why the Earth's temperature changed. So, what caused the end of the last Ice Age? Are there many theories or just one?

I found this about 5 1/2 feet underground in Oregon. I was using the metal detectors searching for meteorites and I came across this highly magnetic piece (only in certain spots). It's about 7 1/2" x 4 1/2" and weighs about 15lbs.

We know that our planet act like a giant dynamo (metal core, and magnetic field), and that our climate is sensitive to geological activities as well as geomagnetic activities in the Ionosphere. So if the sun magnetic storms occurences increase, it could also affect our planet core (as our sun will act a little like electric power on a AC motor), thus warming our planet from beneath the oceans and water bodies...

I am hoping I found something genuine here and not just a very old replica. I found this EXTREMELY heavy rock about the size and shape of a regular red brick. This rock has a black film coating on it and has hyroglyphic (not sure on spelling) writing on it. It looks like it is the base of a small statue and the figure is broke off. The place where the part that is broke off has a brown/gold colored rock embedded in it. This piece is also VERY magnetic in certain places. I am going to clean it and get pics sometime tonight. I just wanted to describe this early enough when a lot of people may be on. I am hoping someone has heard of something like this.

I am under the impression that many little earthquakes...2.2 here...a couple months later a 2.6..a couple months later a 4.1...for example means pressure is being relieved. But could it also mean a much larger quake is coming?

I was surprised to learn this as it goes against everything I was ever taught about science AND history. Can anyone provide a good argument for this much younger age theory of earth?

Details: I am down to the wire - I have finished my two years at community college, I have a GPA of 3.9 and I've been accepted at both UTA and UTD ... the commute to either school is equal and I'm going for a degree in geophysics ... which is the better school for Earth Sciences?

Any advice, please! I have to register in the next week. :)

This is from Dallas, Texas.
