I say polar, because they can form hydrogen or dipole dipole bonds. Am I right?

Im evaluating an experiment whereby i reacted copper with iodine.
Once the two had reacted, copper iodide was left on the copper strip.
In class we scraped this off using a ruler.
I am now evaluating, and as part of my evaluation, i need to suggest a more accuarate way of ensuring all copper iodide is removed from the strip.
Does anyone know how this could be done?

1-propanol ..... CH3CH2CH2OH
1-heptanol ..... CH3CH2CH2CH2CH2CH2CH2OH

I said 1-propanol because it's intermolecular forces are stronger, due to its shorter chain (which over-rides 1-heptanol's stronger dispersion forces). Am I right?
