I took Chemistry about a year ago. I reviewing some topics for AP Chem, but have forgotten some things like ionic charge. For example:

If you use http://www.webelements.com/ as a guide, I know that Group 1 will a charge of +1, Group 2 would be +2, Group 13 would be +3, Group 15 would be -3, Group 16 would be -2, and Group 17 would be -1.

What would Group 14 be and is there a way to determine the charge in Groups 3 to 12, such as Ag (Silver).

I love Chemistry, but man I forgot so much stuff!!

Plz explain in a way comprehendable by a student who has never gone through a rigorous definition of the same. I've gone through some Organic Chemistry books (& some Physics books too), but they are not at all satisfactory to even understand the basic concepts associated. I've also searched in some search engines, but to no avail - they are either wayward, or of a much higher level, not discussing about the basics involved. Also, is there any other form of polarized light? Plz explain. Thanks!

I would like to know how do you calculate the rate constant from a graph that yields a zero order. The graph is linear of course to have a zero order. I need to calculate the rate constant from a graph Concentration vs. Time data. I do not know which number to choose to place in the first order equation. Would I be able to choice the inital concentration and the inital time to find the constant? Please help if possible.

my chemistry teacher said it has something to do with raising the boiling temperature but my friend says it is to prevent the pasta from sticking. but how useful is it to have hotter water and it seems like the oil would be forpreventing stickage. Besides, just stirring a couple times does this without the use of salt or oil!

A 4.00 L sample of gas at 250 degrees celsius and 0.790 atm condenses to give 1.20 mL of liquid; 600 J of heat is released during the process. What is the enthalpy of vaporization of the compound? I'm not sure how to approach this problem because volume is given in it and I don't know if there is a certain equation I should use. Showing the steps on how to solve this problem would greatly be appreciated, Thank You.

A L of water at 25 C dissolves 0.0404 g O2 when the partial pressure of O2 is 1.00 atm. Whar is the solubility of O2 from air, in which the partial pressure of O2 is 159 mmHg?

All calculations aside, I got it right: 8.5x10^-3 g O2/L
BUT my book says that the answer is 8.45x10^-3 g O2/L

I don't have any review in this book about significant figures but from what I've found on the internet, when you multiply or divide, you use the smallest number in the problem to determine the nimber of significant figures. So when the smallest number is 25, is the answer 8.5..... or 8.45......?
