Brominated polystyrene is an effective flame retardant polymer when composted which polyester, polyamides, and other polymers.

The Bromine inhibits the normal combustion reaction

CnHn + O2 --> CO2 + H2O

by throwing in a halogen

CnHn-1Br + O2 --> NR (the ring can't get oxidized)

If you want to know what incombustible means- fabric that won't catch fire.

If you want to know what types of fabric are incombustible- lead.

Most fabrics today are required by law, to be treated with flame retardants.

However, with so many coming from China, we never know, do we? Until it's too late.
