There is now no way for a beneficial mutation to spread throughout the entire population of the planet, therefore there can be no more meaningful evolution of the human race. Alternatively, is it possible given a few more million years for several distinct human species to evolve. Presumably this would have happened if groups on different continents had remained separated.

So my practical tomorrow is going to be about Deducing the Water Potential of Plant Tissues. With potato strips soaked in different concentration of salt solutions, we are suppose to plot a graph (percentage change in length of potato strips against the concentration of solution which is 0.2mol/dm3, 0.4, 0.6 & 0.8) and with the graph, deduce the water potential (in %) of the potato cells. Any clue how it shall be done?

Does anyone know how we came up with the conclusion that something taught can not have an influence on genes? If something is taught for thousands of years can it not have an effect on offspring at all? My example would be religion. Is it impossible for religion to effect the offspring's thought process and gullibility. Are acquired traits completely ruled out of the picture when passing down genes to offspring?

Why do people get so tripped up on the terminology?

Fetus isn't a dirty word, it literally means "unborn baby." It's just distinguishing a free-body kicking, screaming infant from a baby still in the womb. What's the big deal over not referring to an unborn child by the appropriate term?
