Why do people get so tripped up on the terminology?

Fetus isn't a dirty word, it literally means "unborn baby." It's just distinguishing a free-body kicking, screaming infant from a baby still in the womb. What's the big deal over not referring to an unborn child by the appropriate term?

There is no big deal unless you're "pro-life".

They don't understand the term "viable" either.

For one, it's not pro-murder, it's pro-choice, but that's not the question. The answer to the question is that people are still trying to agree over whether or not something is actually alive...and the fetus is the most used term. The main reason people 'get tripped up' is that they're trying to support pro-life and say that the second the egg splits in two it's a baby. *cough* wrong *cough*

According to answers.com, "The word "fetus" is derived from the Latin fetus, meaning "offspring", "bringing forth", or "hatching of young". It has Indo-European roots related to sucking or suckling."

I learned a long time ago that a developing being was called a fetus when it had all of its major parts. Before that it was called an embryo. They're all just terms for stages of development. ... no different than saying seed, seedling, sapling, tree. Stages along the way.

People will probably always support baby, I mean fetus murder, because innocent & defenseless kids don't deserve to live.

Right?

Unless it is them, then suddenly, it matters.

For those who are "pro-murder", a "fetus" sounds easier to kill than a "baby".
