The USDA suggests that refrigerators maintain a maximum temperature of 40 degrees F. Of course you want a minimum temperature of about 33, since you don't want your food freezing in there.

The USDA suggests a temperature of 0 degrees F for freezers. Since meat and other items freeze solid at 32 degrees F, what can happen to foods that are frozen in the range between 0 degrees F and 30 degrees F?

I ask because my freezer can only go as low as 15 degrees F, and sometimes creeps up to 28 degrees or so.

To be clear: What happens to the food that is frozen, but is at a temperature between 0 degrees F and 30 degrees F? Bacterial action? Off flavors? Off textures and colors? Any health risks, or just less shelf life?

Thank you.

Don't say crap about, "Where did it come from?" or, "How could it be so complex without God?" or, "Why are there still monkeys?" (Irrelevent to evolution, not a scientific argument, because we evolved from a common simian ancestor)

As far as I know the only real flaw is that we don't have the perfectly fossilized remains of every creature that ever lived, stacked in perfect order with neat labels on them.

Cite your sources and I won't accept religious ones.

Are there any links between metabolism and sleep? I heard a friend say that a person with low metabolism requires more sleep, and that it is harder to wake up for people with low metabolism than high metabolism. Is there any truth to this statement?

Many people gag or vomit in response to others vomiting. Is it the sight, sound or smell? Could there be a selective advantage? If a tribe member of yours ate/drank something that induced vomiting, then maybe it would behoove you to vomit too?

What causes certain photographs to make eyes look red? There must be something the film picks up that we don't see. For instance, when I took pictures of my kids, my oldest son's picture had red eye. My younger son, who wears glasses did not. I suspect the reflection of light on the glasses eliminated the red eye, but I would like to know why it occurs in the first place.
