This isn't PC, but I've often wondered if the Australian penal colony allowed only the physically strongest to survive and reproduce. Same goes for slavery in America. It seems to me that Australians are often stronger than the typical Caucasian and that American blacks look more powerful than Africans. Thoughts?

I've been hearing about the FDA possible approving meat & milk from cloned animals such as cow and pigs to be sold in stores in a year or so.
What exactly is cloned meat & milk, how is this process done? I don't really understand how they are doing this cloning.
Why would you want to clone cows & pigs? They are not rare. Why not eat/drink what's natural, why do people have to try to repeat the exact same animal, why not just let it give birth instead of cloning it?
To me eating & drinking cloned meat & milk sounds crazy - it seems morally wrong, unsafe, unnatural, & just plain ridiculous. What's the point?

I was at a party the other night were a guy posed this question and stated that there is no simple answer. I then asked if there actually is a difference between the two. That too, he responded stating that there is no simple answer. So first of all, is there a difference between contagious and infectious? If so, what is the difference? Thanks.

23 homolgous pairs =46 chromsomes. shouldn't it be 46 homologous pairs like for karyotype, which shows 2 pairs of 23 homologous chromosomes, one pair(23) from father and one pair(23) from mother.

if you have a cold you can take a hot toddy (whisky+warm water+suger mixed together in a glass) to raise your temperature and sweat the cold out of you, my question is why does a mixture of whisky, warm water and sugar raise your temperature, none of the ingredients on its own will significantly raise your temperature

-there are 46 chromosomes
-there are 46 homlogous pair of chromosome
- there are 92 chromatids
-in metaphase there are 46 homologous pair with 92 chromatids. In Anaphase the homologous pair separate and has 46 chromatids at one pole and 46 chromatids at the other pole. In cytokinesis, there are 2 cells with 46 chromatids. Since the chromatids were seperated out they are now called CHROMSOME. therefore we have 2 cells with 46 chromosomes or 2 diploid cells. Is this correct with the numbers used?
