I heard some biologist (he was into snails) saying zoos were wasting their time on pandas because they've basically got stuck in an evolutionary blind alley, being so completely stuck on one food source that is disappearing, and being so reluctant to "do the wild thing" when not in the wild.

This may be a little harsh - it wasn't the pandas that got rid of their favourite forests - but is there any hope for them? Or is it just a matter of time?

In other words where do YOU live in your brain. What happens when you start changing parts of the brain for electronic implants, maybe even a complete electronic brain?

Apes have fur even in a hot climate. Can see no advantage in us losing it, would save laundry bills! A tail would be good as well, can be used as an extra limb. May get in the way on the underground in rush hour however.

The genetic code can still give variation with hemaphrodite reproduction which most (but not all) plants use Most animals (but not all eg snails, use sparate sexes) Would it be great if we were all hemaphrodite, no gays, no sexual discrimination!

If I had a genetic mutation in my family, my uncle has expressed it, but my mom doesn't express it, but I have it and express it, then what would cause this? Is it really environmental to express a latent gene or is it like the lottery? I don't understand how a gene can turn itself off one generation then switch back on the next generation.

If a mother was 75% positive for a specific mutated gene, and the father was 25%, and the mother's father or mother was 50%, and the great-grandparents were 25% and the great-great grandparents were 100%, would this be correct to have a child that came full circle and was now 100% of the specific mutated gene in their DNA? I guess the gene would be dominant and not recessive.
