It is based on the fac that there are different levels of melanin produced. If you look at a punnent square for skin color you can see how the colors are formed. It also has to deal with the amount of sun exposure. People are darker towards the equator because it is an adaptation for fitness. THey get more sun there so they don't need as much absorbancy for vitamin d. SKin is lighter because it is an adaptiation to help absorb more sun and vitamin d will be produced more.

The skin colours is given by the concentration of a pigment called melanin. this pigment is higher in the presence of sunlight (mostly uva, b, c) so the darker the skin the more is the protection for the cell dna from photo-damage. of course people closer to the poles and equator are darker than you would expect because it is there where the light is more intense.

it is due to the genetically determined content of melanocytes (melanin- producing cells) in our skin. darker ones have more of them and albinos have none.
so a black person in africa can have an albino baby if there is a mutation and there you go u have the start of a new white race...in one generation...it doesnt need generations of adaptation to environment.it just takes bits of mutations and recombinations of dna to make this colorful human species.

its due to the diff. concentration of melanin.it protects the body from the hrmful effect of sunlight, and so in regions of more sunlight the skin of ppl is darker....so diff colours.

Evolution. The darker, the more sun exposure, and thus the more sun resistance.

it is an adaptive response to environmental conditions-- just like nose shape and size is another way...
Does evolution make sense?? IT can, if you think about it.
