In other words where do YOU live in your brain. What happens when you start changing parts of the brain for electronic implants, maybe even a complete electronic brain?

I not very sure where your ID is but my guess would be the frontal lobes. Ok, firstly it is believe that a marvellous signal is responsible for memory and cognition; and the would be the theta phrase. This (through experimentation) is proven to be responsible for spatial memory. When you are required to do navigation, the hippocampus (mainly the right side) is activated. Thus we believe that our intelligence is probably due to our hippocampus. However, in recent studies, it is found that the medial septum and the perirhinal cortex also have theta. Thus it is proposed that recall and recognition is done but different pathways in your brain. So if your want to have an electronic brain, you need to be able to produce this theta phrase. Another thing to take into consideration is Long Term Potentiation(LTP). LTP is due to repitative synaptic activity. If your circuit cannot have LTP-like effect, you remeber nothing. Lastly, electronic implants being man-made will be unable to perform as well as neurons which is by nature as neurons also secrete substances and circuits cannot do so. With current technology, it is theoratically impposible to build an e-brain

The ID is the front lobe of the brain which contains your normal instinctual behaviour. The ego is the middle, kind of like the questioning of the superego, which holds core beliefs from when you were born and what you feel is right or wrong. Ethical issues are why we haven't placed electronic implants on humans.

The ID isn't a physical part of the brain, but part of the consciousness/sub-consciousness...

The ID is a concept. Not a structure in the brain. There is no ID in the brain. Its an old Freudian concept.

YOU are your nervous system.

Those who say otherwise, please reference the research study.
