without regard to country, nationality or political point of view? I know it sounds idealistic but then no one no where could 'bomb' anyone anywhere. And maybe this might allow us some added protection from the 'bigger' meteors that our less protective ozone layer will eventually allow in.

I'm not a scientist or anywhere close to 'science minded' so I'm sure I'm not using the right terms but hopefully some of you will understand what I'm asking and answer seriously.

in the late 1600s sir isaac newton explained why the moon, even though pulled strongly by earths gravity, does not come crashing into earth. the answer has to do with the moons motion. newton explained that the moon has two motions, both occurring at the same time.
* the motion is the moon falling toward earth
* the second motion is the moon traveling forward in a straight line.
newton concluded that the sum of these two motions(occurring at the same time)is a nearly circular path, the moons actual orbit around earth.
what other motions could newton have explained by using his ideas about the moon?
A.the dropping of an apple from a tree
B.the movement of earth around the sun
C. the daily rotation of earth
1. A only
2. B only
3. C only
4. both A and B
5. both B and C

Okey, there is one thing thats really pissing me off, how come everywhere the phrase "universe" is used when actually they are just talking about the visible part of the universe

if we use the word "universe" for our visible universe only, that would mean we are exactly in the center of the universe because we can see equal length in all directions.

according to what iv read there is no way to measure the size nor the center of the universe because it expands equal everywhere and not in the sense of an explosion.

so the other thing that annoys me, why do we think we know so much about the big bang? iv heard multiple places that in the beginning the entire universe would fit in our hands, but then they had to just be talking about the visible universe again.
Because if we knew that then we could easily calculate the entire size.

our visible universe could be as big as 180billion light years wide, with about 100billion galaxies, any suggestion then to the full size of the universe?

I was reading this article
http://www.wired.com/science/space/news/2007/05/liquid_telescope

and thought that eventually telescopes will be powerful enough to see farther than 13.7 billion light years away. If the universe is 13.7 billion years old, then what do we see if we have a telescope that can see 14 billion+ light years away? Pitch black? Is that even physically possible?

the sun is a ball of gas right? that has been burning for years? And is a star??? New stars are blue in colour and are hotter and old stars are orangy and not as hot?? and then they burn out when they have used up all the gas? so from earth the sun is yellowy - orange which shows its age? so eventually the sun will run out of gas (not in our life times) but will at some point? what happens then???? With out the sun there would be no life surely?

(sorry about all the question but was critisised in ealier question for not being scientifically correct, wouldn't ask if I knew the answer would I?)

Today, there's an article about how scientists discovered a black hole 13 billion light years away from earth. This confuses me because if the universe is only 13.7 billion years old (from the point of the big bang), how could an object get so far away from earth if objects in space are moving away from each other at a speed substantially less than the speed of light? Further, wouldn't the point of the big bang be the center of the universe, meaning that there's still a center now with "edges" expanding into the unknown? I would think that wherever one was in the universe one would be able to look the same distance in each direction, which would imply that from each's vantage point, one is in the center. If that's true, what exactly is the shape of the universe? Does it "wrap around" on itself? Lastly, if one could see 13.7 billion light years away in any direction, would one be looking at the big bang itself?

Those big helium balloons that they have to advertise things (usually in the shape of a blimp, and often floating above a garage) would one of those have enough lift to carry a full grown person?

Also what would happen if you tied yourself to one and cut it free, how high would it go and when would it come down?
