Did GOD create us or did we create him? That is the better question.

This should have probably been posted in the religion section as it has nothing to do with the study of space.
But lol, the first answer was funny. 'There IS a God, but I cannot prove it to you.' And I love how people are so caught up in their religion that they can only see things from that one perspective, and they expect everybody else to see things the same way. I also think it's funny that people seem to have the arrogance to believe that God is not so busy running all of creation that He can take time out to prove Himself to us petty little humans. What makes us think that our minds are even able to truly comprehend what God is. Are we even capable of being in the presence of a being that powerful???
To the first answer I'd have to ask, "How do you know the question was about the Christian version of God? What if it was a general question about monotheism?"
So since I'm a little more open-minded than that, I'll try to answer the question in that general way.
Religion probably was started to give ancietnt civilizations structure and rules for behavior. And who better than an omnipotent being to put in charge of it? The fear of angering this invisible being probably helped to instill the value of the knowledge those religions were trying to teach to their people. I really think that it doesn't matter what belief system you fall into as long as your intentions are good and you believe in something. There's power in positive thought no matter which faith you belong to. And I think people started learning that a long time ago.
I personally do believe in a higher power, but I just can't buy into one religion over all of the others because who's to say which, if any, is right? My proof that there's a God? Well there's this mindblowingly huge universe that we all live in. I'm by no means a creationist, and I think that it's a pretty absurd concept that is mostly baseless, but this is all just too big and too complex to have just been some fluke.
That's it. That's the only proof I want to offer. Someone else might talk about how some miracle happened to them as that being their proof of a God, but I don't want to say that, because then that raises the question of why would God let all of the other good people down, and let others die, yet give this one person their miracle?
SmokeMax, all of those things you named are just as real as the concept of God. We can't prove any of them. So unitl we can, what exactly would be wrong with believing in Zeus or someother god anyway? My point: It's not what you believe, just that you believe in something.

The idea of God was created by man because when man first evolved, he barely knew anything about how the world worked. How the seasons changed, what causes the sun to rise and set, etc. Since man didn't know the how these things happpened, man created a superior being that controlled everything.
Now, we almost know everything there is about the universe. There are still mysteries that need to be solved, but scientists are confident that they will be solved. And man still believes God exists. Why? Because man doesn't believe that the universe coul exist without him, but actually, the universe is self governing without the need of a God or Gods to regulate everything.
In short, God is a concept of man, in which I don't believe.

I believe that their is a God. Just go outside and look at the beauty around you. This at least for me is enough.
Also, because man can think of God means he exists. Think about it, man does not think about what he doesn't know. Case and point, whenever scientists find a new species of animal were are excited and surprised because we had not thought that it had existed before hand. So therefore just becasue you asked the question "What is GOD" means he exists.

There is no god. Just look at the hideousness around the world. That should be enough for any intelligent being.
God and religion was created by man to control others. This control was needed to wage war (and is still used this way). So much easier to say "God has told me to tell you to invade this country and kill all men, women, children, the elderly, the sick, the livestock and their pets" than to say "I want you to.." Its all in the bible. Read it. It´s an excellent blueprint for genocide.

Ask yourself, WHY would something that is nothing, nothing with no purpose or reason, no ambition, no goals, no desires, no wants or needs, nothing that could FOREVER be just as it were......lifeless, meaningless, a cold and dark void existing for ALL of eternity.......suddenly, spark the Universe and everything contained therein into existence?
Scientists can ONLY speculate about a Big Bang happening, but, the fact remains is how did things that pre-existed this event give rise to themselves to even make it happen in the first place.
So, out of nowhere, something popped into existence out of nothingness, and over a period of time, caused a Big Bang to happen..........without reason to do so?
If things were popping in and out of existence since before the beginning of the Big Bang, and time and space itself, then it's ONLY reasonable to assume that they still are. So, why aren't Big Bangs occurring all around us to this day?
There is an intelligence factor behind the spark of the Universe and the fact that your are here. Your own abilities to create things ( on a human level ) out of mere thought is PROOF which plainly illustrates a higher force that has given you life.
We, simply, are living examples of that which has created us.
Hope this helps to answer your question. :)

God is the Creator of the Universe and all life therein.
It is impossible by our own intelligence to Understand what kind of substance is His make up,anymore than a bedbug can understand what you are.
The best proof to know if He is there is=talk to Him.

Why do you think there is no GOD? You can not prove the non-existence of a God. There are many indications in nature that there IS a God. I can not prove it to you. God himself can show it to you that he exists.

The third answer is hilarious. I'm glad we verified the Loch Ness Monster, Big Foot, Santa Claus, Leprochauns, and Zeus as 'one of the gods' because since we know of them, they MUST exist.
