Right now there is no timeline and no funding for a Mars program.
There is a timeline for a return to the moon--but so far that project hasn't been funded either. Assuming funding is forthcoming in the near future, the current NASA timeline calls for a manned missionn by 2020. The Chinese timeline is for a lunar mission in 2024.

There is no time line for a Mars landing yet, it is more a goal setting for political reasons, with even less incentive than Kennedy's "put the man on the Moon within a decade"
It is even debatable if this is feasible, since it takes around 1 year for a ship to reach Mars. Add another year to get back, and you'll get the scale of the difficulties (food, water, oxygen, and fuel to get everything there and back).

We have yet to land on the moon. Actually, we cannot travel in space, the radiation will kill us. So, Mars is totally out.
Mind you, Hollywood has advanced a heck of a lot. I guess we can make a more believeable movie about a landing on Mars than was made in the 60's.

It could happen before 2050, if we have the political "will" to do it.
Also... it only takes about 6 months to get there when the planets are oriented properly, based on current rocket technology.
