This is a clever trick that is generally not correct. It relies on this simple idea:
2*0 = 1*0, that's easy
if you say d = 0, then
2*d = 1*d
If you divide by d then
2 = 1
The problem is d is known to equal 0, and division by 0 is undefined. Contrarty to one answer, x / 0 does not equal infinity. If that was true, then inifinity * 0 = x, which means inifinty multiplied by 0 equals every possible number, which doesn't make sense. Division by 0 produces an undefined result, which is why it is not allowed, and it is what makes this math trick wrong.

what you say is 2*0=1*0 and thats true.. but to solve it you have to divide by 0, that will give you 2*infinite = 1*infinite which is also true

where is the error?
The fact that the question is asked in astronomy & space?
---
I liked it better as:
x = y =1
x^2 = xy
x^2 - y^2 = xy - y^2
(x+y)(x-y) = y(x-y)
x+y = y
1+1 = 1
