Does the universe go on forever? If it does that's really trippy. But if it doesn't then what is stopping it, like when it stops what is there that is stopping it?? This question explodes my brain whenever i think about it.

The escape velocity is calculated from a planet's or star's surface.

If one used powered flight to maintain a constant velocity 1/100 the surface escape velocity, you would eventually be far enough away from the body so the gravity could no longer pull you back.

By this logic, a powered spacecraft might also escape from a black hole, as it would not be necessary to achieve a small fraction of the escape velocity to escape. Assuming of course, that one had some way of protecting the spacecraft and occupants from the tidal and other hazards of being close to a black hole.

tell me about it. I'd like to hear your story. What it felt like, how old you were, etc. I was born in 1973 so i've only seen stock footage but am moved every time i watch any of the landings on video/dvd....but please don't send me any of that ''it was all faked'' rhubarb 'cos its getting a bit boring. Bart sibrel deserved the punch he got off buzz! also if you want to be really fussy you could say that the 1st actual words ON the moon (i mean in actual physical contact) was buzz saying ''contact light''!! Agree yes/no

Why in the star trek series do space ships only meet in straight lines? There is no gravity in space and a forward course to one ship could be up to another.

why do the ships not meet at off angles?

Fusion reactions require a huge amount of energy to be initiated, but how did the sun get this in the beginning? There has to be SOME other source giving out that huge energy...but if so, what game THAT source the energy to begin fusion reactions?

life could develop and exist. After all, isn't it generally accepted that there's less than a million to one, or even a billion to one chance that life could randomly form on our planet which specifically allows life to flourish.

Considering cosmologists estimate there to be, conservatively, 1 billion planets in our galaxy and about 100 billion galxies in the universe, doesn't that mathematically mean it is highly likely life randomly developed?
I'm not trying to prove god doesn't exist, just trying to understand arguments for his/her/it's existence.

There are so many people throughout the world who claim to have been "abducted" and returned by aliens, could there be any truth to any of it. Of course some of them may be "out of it", but is it possible that thousands of individuals could be making up these stories? On the other hand, why is there never any physical evidence of these encounters?
