I have looked on the internet but often find biased opinions about Buran or STS. Can anyone give me a non biased look into both Shuttles? Perhaps shed some light on which orbiter was more sophisticated, advanced, ect..

Also any thoughts on what the Russian space program would be like today IF Buran made it? Thanks

I don't know anything about stellar physics, but let's just say (for the sake of this question) that *something* happened to cause the Earth to be in constant darkness. How much time (days, weeks, months, years?) would the Earth have left if the Sun ceased to shine? And what would we go through before the death of everything? Would it be quick? Or slow and painful?

This actually came up while I was at work today. Thanks.

Does anyone believe in the gobal warming crap? It is the middle of June and there are brass Monkeys all over the UK looking for welders! It is my belief that the earth is getting colder and colder and it stands to reason when you think about it. The Sun has been burning for a couple of, well for as long as I can remember.!! so it has to have died down a bit. I have just come back from India, working offshore where oil flares that burn 24/ 7 in their hundreds, burning off gas that can not be contained, One flares Gas that every hour would power a small city for a week! and this has been going on for coming up to 30 years! I think the world is more than capable of coping with this. AND!! the oil like the sun like everything. WILL RUN OUT!!

When I watch the NASA channel sometimes, I noticed that the orbit of the shuttle (and the space station for that matter) is sort of zig-zaged instead of a straight line over the earth map.

Why is this?

Does it turn while it's up there and change course......or am I just seeing things on the map?

Thanks....

I mean I heard about the astronaut who tried to kill that other lady? They said she wore astronaut diapers. But really how would that work, cause everything would still be floating around in you paints (I know its gross).
