ice volcanoes or mountains?
pluto once belonged to the kupiter belt which was mostly icy bodies and to this day those icy bodies still hit pulto and when the icy bodies hit plutos atmosphere they become mixed with nitrgoen and then the ice eventually fomr ice structues casuing the nitrogen to get lodgeed in the ice... and then when pluto goes throught its "season" where it switched place with another planet the temp also get hotter casuing the ice to erode leaving the nitrogen to come out of the ice stucture just like volcanoe ( colder thought)

ps my class talked about this one day

When fisherman wants to go to the ocean from their jetty in the riverside during high tide, they move zig-zag across the river to avoid taking full force of the tide. Therefore, even their small engines can take them to the ocean. Will this method work to help us escape the gravity of black hole ?

Are there any theories floating around that astronomers are using to determine the shape. Its been said the shape is flat, that may not be true as that's the current theory.

I watched a show last night that had scientests debating the fact on weather or not Pluto was a real planet in our solar system. Some of them think that it's just a huge mass because of it's somewhat close location to the debris in the Kuiper (pronounced Kyper) Belt. Others stressed that it is a planet just because it is round. The scientists who want to have it removed went on to say that just because it's round, doesn't make it a planet. Our own Moon is round, as well as all the other satalites in the Solar System, and althogh they have been known from time to time to be labeled lesser planets, they are still considered stalites.

What are your thoughts? I'm in no way a scientest, but I am intregued . Especially when it comes to outer space and the planets. My thoughts? What does it hurt to leave Pluto umong the other 8 in the Solar System?

Respectfully,

On March 3, 2003, in an article published by the People's Daily news outlet, Luan Enjie, vice-minister of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and director of the China National Aerospace Administration (CNAA), blueprinted his country's lunar plans and use of Helium 3 as an energy resource for earth.

Chinese space officials view the Moon as a milestone effort in a multi-step space program, not only useful in strengthening its technological muscle, but also to out-distance other countries in utilizing the Moon in the 21st century.

"The Moon has become the focal point wherein future aerospace powers contend for strategic resources. The Moon contains various special resources for humanity to develop and use", Luan said. In particular, the space official pointed to Helium-3, a resource unique to lunar soil. "[It] is a clean, efficient, safe and cheap new-type nuclear fusion fuel"

The distance of the Earth to the Sun is about 93 million miles, or for lazy people who can't remember how many 0's are in 93 million, 93,000,000.

There used to be one a while back- I've searched and have not come up with anything useful. My son was born on Aug 17, 1987, when all the planets were supposed to be lined up nicely, and I thought it would be cool to give him a plotting of this.

The current state of affairs on Mother Earth are abysmal. War, debt, disease, the list goes on. Not to mention the current energy dependence on non-renewables.

If we can somehow extend the "expiration date" of human kind instead, wouldn't that be better than sending people into space, and to possibly create bases on the moon or mars, at this juncture? Why not take care of home matters first?

Keep space exploration alive and well, yes. But with satellites and robotic craft.

There may be some benefit to having a human in space...but what cost justifies that benefit?

This question is motivated upon reading of the death of Van Allen, who advocated against manned space flight.

Our hyperspace scout ships report occasional (but very rare) indications of intelligent activity on the planet the natives refer to as "Earth", however the inhabitants of that planet appear to regularly murder and war with each other with insane enthusiasm over utterly bizarre differences of personal opinion (such as "Whose god is the only REAL God?"). What evidence do you have that there is truly intelligent life on that seemingly brutal and primitively evolved thid planet from the star 'Sol' (Milky Way Galaxy, Spiral Nebula, subspace quadrant ZF-1765GH)? Would you be willing to volunteer to make first contact with its nominal highest life form (a superficially evolved species of primate named 'Homo Sapiens'), given what we know of these savage and extremely violent, but devilishly clever primitives?
