Hunny, If there is no larger meaning to life...then life is without a driving force, without overall substance or explanation. If you believe in God,you will know your purpose here in earth. Real life is a life filled with fulfillment, acceptance and purpose. We find it in a relationship with Jesus Christ. No one in human history has made the claims Jesus made and given such great proofs to back them up. He claimed to be God, to be able to forgive sins, and to be the only way through which we can know God the Father. Jesus backed up those claims through his resurrection from the dead. He is, truly, the most unique person who ever lived...much more than a great MASTER. Maybe you've heard about the guy whose life goal was to climb a certain mountain. When he finally reached the top, he was terribly disappointed. There was nowhere else for him to go, and something was still missing in his life. It's like the pro football player who gets depressed after winning the Super Bowl. God is knocking on the door of your heart...but you still need to let him in. And when you met him you will discover the real fulfillment. You will feel a wholeness that you never felt experienced before. I hope someday you will feel peace in your heart knowing the meaning...Why we are here. Ask God, He is the only one WHO can give you that answer.

God Bless You!!

Every society throughout time has had a religion. Ancient peoples unconnected to the rest of the world for eons, they have all developed a religion. We are here to become Gods, that which we worship, we are to become. One day, very soon, humans will be seen as Gods, this will happen when we visit the first aliens and start them thinking of Theology.

Why are we where? If you are talking about the site, then it could be to score points (because we are competitive over-achievers) or because we enjoy the social aspect or learning new things, giving our opinion and communicating (which translates to being lonely psychopaths).

If you are wondering why we are here on earth well...that is for you decide...you make things happen. And if you are religious then you may believe that your purpose is predetermined and that it is only a matter of time before you become who you are supposed to be...

I DON'T KNOW!!!

You cant say life is an illusion and say death is the only certainty. They're kinda needed to define each other. ON the other hand, I dont know if you need an "ultimate" reason to live but the in-your-face reason would be to enable the homosapien species to live on.

Thats just my opinion and as any question like this thats based on opinion, i expect flame wars to go on very soon.

two possible reasons:

1) Everything in the universe is just a bunch of stuff that happened by chance and there is no real meaning to our pitiful existance other than to get rich or die trying.

2) god created everything, and we are in this shitty world cos Eve ate that bloody apple, then god got pissed off and said go your own u twats, but only the good can live forever and not pay bills again.

if you look at the world today and what we have done to it, we are only here to wreck the planet and exterminate most of the life forms [plant and animal] that live here.
all this whilst eroding the ozone and killing each other!!!

not bad for a late addition to the planet [60 thousand years]

Because the ice cream melted on Zecktor VII, but first we had to get away from Zorkbak the Relentless on Varknor XII.

To be the best person you can be, and await judgement day.
