I have read that it kills people because of the final oxidation product of ethylene glycol which is oxalic acid. But oxalic acid is in some teas and some people drink massive amounts of tea and i don't see them dropping dead. Others have said that it is an like an alcohol and disrupts the central nervous system much more than ethanol. And there is no real definite answer as to why is kills a person. Also some say its because of oxalic acid deposits of calcium stop the kidneys from extracting urea and other chemicals thus leading to renal failure but this process is a bit slow and thus not the quick mechanism of death.And another reason is that it causes metabolic acidosis which would cause somebody to breathe rapidly, not really killing you unless its too acidic but that would have to be a pretty low ph.So i would like to know the real cause of death stage by stage and what causes death and not just a heart attack but the reasons behind it and what not.Im curious and it has bothered me

Just thinking outside the box here...

Many studies worldwide and even by our own FDA have found that many previous conceptions of the "ill side effects" of Marijuana are indeed false. Most notably, the misconception that Marijuana kills brain cells.

http://paranoia.lycaeum.org/marijuana/facts/mj-health-mythology.html

What I'm wondering is, why is the lack of motivation considered an "ill side effect"?

Perhaps it is the "human condition" that is the side effect of living in this high pressured world of materialistic ownership and status enhancement. Could it be possible that the lack of motivation people experience when high is actually a similar benefit, akin to the helpful anti-anxiety and increased appetite experienced by smokers when using prescribed medicinal Marijuana?

"You were accidentally served a salad at your Aunt Tutu's house over Thanksgiving that contained leaves of an experimental spinach plant. All we know is that the plant had received a treatment of 3H (tritium) and that it (3H) has been found in the sweat (H2O) released from your body as a by-product of aerobic cellular respiration. Provide a plausible but detailed explanation as to how the tritium made its way into your H2O? Be specific in your explanation. Hint: The plant came from the lab of Dr. Van Niel.

Help Please!! I don't understand the question!!

Hi, I have two problems to pose. The first one was problem 27
on the 2007 FAMAT( see http://mathgod.com/mathcomps/interschools/fall2007/
and the second one is related to a question recently posed by
(Ω)kaksi _guy.
Anyway, here they are:

1. If n = 4 I get 4 2 3 2 4 3 1 1
If n = 5 I get 3 5 2 3 2 4 5 1 1 4
I don't get anything for n = 6 or 7
What should I get for n = 8?

2. Compute the definite integral
∫(-π/2..π/2) cos 2x dx/(1 + e^(sin(x)).
The limits are -π/2 to π/2.
I ran this through an online program to
evaluate definite integrals and it seems the value of
this integral is 0. Prove it!

Can someone please help me in solving the following problems? You don't have to tell me the answer, but can someone guide me in getting the correct answer? I have notes on it, but they aren't very good ones. :[

1] Can you check if this is right -
N2 + 3H2 ---> 2NH3
How many grams of NH3 can be produced from the reaction of 28g of N2 and 25g of H2?
- Is it 1.99g NH3 & 74.25g NH3?
- And how do I found out how much of the excess reagent in that problem is left over?

ANNNDDD ... Mg + 2HCl ---> MgCL2 + H2
Is "What volume of hydrogen at STP is produced from the reaction of 50.0g of Mg and the equivalent of 75g of HCl?" a different format of the first question except w/ different numbers?

Mass-Mass

2KClO3 ---> 2KCl + 3O2
How many grams of potassium chloride are produced if 25g of potassium chlorate decompose?

Also, some questions use the word reaction instead of decompose; is that the same thing? Would I solve it the same as I would to the decompose ones?

Two motorboats on opposite shores of a river start moving towards eachother, but at different speeds. Please neglect all other factors like acceleration , turn-around time, and current. When the two boats pass one another the first time, they are 700 meters from one shoreline. Each continues to the opposite shores, then turns around and begins moving towards one another again. When they pass the second time, they are 300 meters from the other shoreline. (Their speeds, though different, remain constant). How wide is the river???
