i agree with you on some level....some could stand a bit of decrease in their motivation :-) ....and it IS prescribed...right here in the US in fact, though not often enough. did you know that the US is one of very few countries that still has not legalized this?
ps....more ppl should think outside the box - I don't smoke the stuff but have seen it benefit some who need it

I have smoked it for more than thirty years. The only people who have motivation problems with it are the people who let it. As for it plugging up your brain and causing strokes, what a bunch of BS. Read the studies that have been done. They are still discovering medical benefits all the time. Any substance can be abused. Lets take a look at alcohol, just to name one. It is legal. How many motivated drunks do you know? Ever try to reason with a drunk? How many deaths are caused each year that is directly or indirectly caused by alcohol? You won't find any numbers like that proportionally related to marijuana users.

I'm using my husbands account, BTW. I started smoking when I was 14, I just now quit for good (I mean it!) I am 23 years old. I never tried to justify the means of it, however, marijuana did allow me to actually focus and concentrate and chill out, as I was a high strung adolescent with ADD. The stuff did wonders...Until I found out how it alters your DNA and plugs up your brain and such (I've met too many long term smokers that eventually had strokes or brain cancer, I cannot help but to feel that there is a link) I am pregnant now and I promised myself at the age of 8 that I would never, ever allow my addiction to interfere with my child's happiness, as my mother was an alcoholic and prescription pill abuser. Lack of motivation is a serious side affect of marijuana, i.e., why would you want to go out in a sober society and take care of business around sober people??? would'nt that just kill your buzz??? Also, my neighbors are stoners, and I've learned myself the hard way and from watching other people that marijuana almost prevents people from HANDLING REALITY IN A SERIOUS, CONSCIENTIOUS MATTER. Like, the other day, my neighbor kicked up gravel with his truck tires all over my guests' vehicle, when he could have just come up and asked them to move. Another time, his brother, called out to me from his kitchen window to "shut the **** up you stupid ***** before I kick your ***" instead of saying, Would you please quiet down?? (And I have to deal with that umfernucker trying to play guitar and sing, on top of being a weedsmoker, he is mentally retarded) I now have the ammunition over them of knowing that they have to be stoned to deal with reality, because they are so stupid they cannot handle life without it. Marijuana is a blessing when needed, absolutely dentrimental when not needed. I know, I have been there. And I am proud to say that I will never go back, because I have graduated into being able to deal with life and problems without the burn. Have a wonderful evening!

If it can be proven that regular use of cannabis has a deleterious effect on motivation, then those people who have jobs which require a high degree of motivation will place their families and those who depend on them in financial jeopardy, or maybe far worse. Lack of motivation will invariably affect others who depend on you.

Unmotivated individuals do not take care of their responsibilities. They do not achieve anything and expect the government to care for them. Being motivated is not the same as being materialistic. You can try to justify your drug use but that tends to be a symptom of someone with a problem in denial.
