The determined Wile E. Coyote is out once more to try to capture the elusive roadrunner. The coyote wears a new pair of Acme power roller skates, which provide a constant horizontal acceleration of 10 m/s2. The coyote starts off at rest 60 m from the edge of a cliff at the instant the roadrunner zips by in the direction of the cliff.

a. If the roadrunner moves with constant speed, find the minimum speed the roadrunner must have in order to reach the cliff before the coyote.

b. If the cliff is 150 m above the base of a canyon, find where the coyote lands in the canyon. (Assume that his skates are still in operation when he is in "flight" and that his horizontal component of acceleration remains constant at 15 m/s2.)

Is it possible for a man cutting logs in the woods to know how fast he is working without a clock? He is also not very good at estimating the time in his head. For example, he normally can cut 30 logs, into 150 smaller logs in 3 hours. How does he know if he is working faster or slower than usual? One way might be how sweaty he gets, or how tired he is, but that could just mean he is taking unnecessary steps or having a bad day.

a farmer has 120m of fencing. by using an existing wall, h decides to make a rectangular pen by adding 3 sides, with 2 sides equal to x m as shown in the diagram. show that the area enclosed, A m^2, is given by A=x(120-2x).

complete the square on the expression for A and hence find the greatest value of A and the value of x for which this occurs

I understand that pandas were carnivores, who evolved to be herbivores because of the availability of bamboo; however, the change seems to have been something of a mistake, since their digestive systems have not adapted well and they are still inefficient at digesting bamboo, and suffer from severe reproductive and health problems. I'm wondering if there's a parallel with the health problems caused by "artificial" diets for dogs and cats, which many pet owners claim are resolved by "natural" feeding.

Does anyone know if attempts have ever been made to return pandas their "original" diets?
