What's Central Standard Time ? The world works on GMT -- Greenwich Mean Time and depending on BST -- British Summer Time, Germany is usually one hour ahead of GMT. There is a period of a few days at either end of GMT BST when the difference can be nil or 2 hours -- all very confusing but this is because the British government will not fall into line with the rest of Europe and make everything very simple. BST was devised to help farmers out thereby in theory, giving them more hours of daylight to work in ( load of rubbish really ). Nowadays, farmers have agricultural machinery that enables them to work throughout a 24 hour day.
