Wild animal vets usually work for non profit organizations or do it as a side line to their practice. They would work on native wildlife such as coyotes, deer, raccoons ect. or specialize in birds.
Exotic vets would either work for zoos( working on lions, tigers and bears ect) or have a practice where they would work on people's exotic pets such as parrots, chinchillas, reptiles and snakes.
The exotic vet in his own practice would probably make the most profit. Zoos and non profits have fixed salaries.
Also, veterinarians do not study all animals when in school, they choose what rotations they prefer and just gloss over the rest. An example would be a vet student who wants to specialize in equine science would opt for a rotation with a race track or stable and a student who likes livestock would rotate to a ranch or farm situation.

Note: Some people with overinflated egos need to stop giving hands down to legitimate answers just so your answer will look better. Also, research your answer before you open your mouth, maybe your answer would then be correct.

wild animal vets will work on a wide array of animals that are usually local rescues or possibly at a zoo (a form of exotic animal vet with a specialty in a certain type of animal or animals). Exotic animal vets you find in the yellow pages will work in private practices and usually work with cats and dogs as well as reptiles, amphibians, birds, rodents, and possibly even fish.
I'm not sure which makes more money but if you had a private practice it would be beneficial to have as much education on as many different kinds of animals as you can to get more business.
Striving veterinarians will usually put their focus on domesticated animals and livestock. Many do not go as far to study exotic pets. If you think about it, veterinarians have a harder job than medical doctors, since MDs only work with 1 species (humans), and vets have to specialize in many more. Since vets have such a huge array of animals to work with, many only focus on so many, which is why it can be hard to find an exotic animal vet.

There would be no differences. You see veterinarians are educated and trained on the biology, physiology and anatomy of domesticated animals. It is illegal for universities to use live or dead wild animals.

There are very few wild/exotic veterinarians, there is just not enough work to keep them busy. The really large rich zoos and wildlife parks may keep one on staff. Usually a zoo calls a vet, depends on what animal is having problems. Veterinarian are classically educated as either large animal or small animal. So, the zoo may need a small animal vet one day and the next a large animal vet.

Which animal are you going to work with? Well just go with your personal preference. But, first you have to get through vet school. That's the place to decide what you will do with your future.

Wild animals are those which are not tamed or domesticated. Exotic animals are those which are not native. In Australia, for instance, wild animals include kangaroos, koalas and wombats; exotic animals include dogs, cats and horses. Most vets deal with domestic animals which are exotics in most countries but those that work with wildlife sanctuaries, wildlife rescue organisations and zoos have experience with wild animals.
