I need help with this word problem, that I cannot figure out how to solve. Here it is:
Each side of a tent forms a right angle with the ground. The tops of 2 ropes are attached to each side of the tent 8 ft above the ground. The other ends of the 2 ropes are attached to stakes on the ground. If the rope is 12 ft long, what angle does it make with the level ground? And what is the distance between the botton of the tent and each stake?

I have a matrix that is:
3 2 2
0 1 0
1 3 2

which has eigenvalues 1 (double) and 4.

for the eigenvalue 4, with algebraic multiplicity 1,
its eigenvector is (2 0 1), which implies that the eigenvalue 4 has geometric multiplicity 2, which is higher than its algebraic multiplicity, but i've read that geometric multiplicity is always <= algebraic multiplicity.

what's wrong??

There is no snow here in Devon and I feel that the rest of the country is being a bit greedy keeping it all to yourselves - we feel terribly left out so please could you send it back down this way? After all, we passed it northwards to you last night - don't be mean. By the way, does anyone else in the UK have a local weather presenter that is COMPLETELY HOPELESS like ours?

Question: A car dealer has two warehouses, one in Millville and one in Trenton, and two dealerships, one in Camden and one in Doldrum. Every car sold at the dealerships is delivered from the warehouses. On a certain day, Camden sells 10 cars, Doldrum sells 12. Millville warehouse has 15 cars available, and Trenton has 10. The cost of shipping one car is $50 from Millville to Camden, $40 from Millville to Doldrum, $60 from Trenton to Camden and $55 from Trenton to Doldrum. How can the dealer best reduce shipping costs? Namely, how many cars should be moved from each warehouse to each dealership?

I understand there will be 4 variables and I need to reduce to two.

Hint given: the two variables that remain should be the # of cars shipped from the same warehouse (one or the other) to the two dealerships.

The 4 vertices - values - 1080, 1050, 1085, & 1130.

Help!

Thanks!

Shilo
