1/2
First note that the larger jar will be a smaller fraction full, so it is the one that is 1/4 full. Now, since the amounts of water are equal, pouring the water from jar a to jar b will double the amount of water in jar b, so the larger jar becomes 2*(1/4) = 1/2 full.

amount is equal so when water from lesser capacity is poured into the jar of larger capacity (1/3). (2/3) is filled so 1-(2/3)=(1/3) . is left

If you filled one container 1/4 full with some water and then put the rest (an equal amount) into 10, or 100, or 1000 other containers and then poured all the water in all of the containers into the first, it would be 1/2 full ( 1/4 + 1/4).

x=amount of water poured into each jar
a=capacity of 1st jar
b=capacity of 2nd jar
x=a/4 or a=4x
x=b/3 or b=3x
clearly 3x is less than 4x so the "b" jar is the smaller
now we dump that water into the first jar
but recall the same amount of water (x) was initially
poured into each jar, so now we have 2x in jar "a"
so 2x=2(a/4) = a/2, the large jar is now half full

Its simple, buddy. Hardly any need to play with fractions.
1/4 bigger jar = 1/3 smaller jar [given]
hence pouring water from smaller to larger jar, u get 1/4[new] + 1/4[old] = 2/4 =1/2 larger jar
or, 1/4 + 1/4 = 2/4= 1/2

Get a least common denominator for the 2 fractions and you get the number 12. Since 3 goes into 12 4times that would equal 4/12
and 4 goes into12 3 times or 3/12 4/12 +3/12= 7/12

1/2 Full
1/4 big jar = 1/3 small jar
If 1/3 small jar is poured into the big jar, then 1/4 big jar+1/4 big jar = 1/2 big jar

1/2 full...
if one unit of water = 1/4
and you have 2 units of that water
then you would have 2/4 capacity of the larger jar

A=100 ml, vol=400cc
B=100ml, vol=300cc
B->A= 200 ml
200/400 = 50%
Fraction of the large jar filled will be 1/2 ( 50% ).
