Yes, salt or anything else that will break into ions (other salts, acids and bases, etc...). Distilled water will not conduct electricity.

no,its not the salt that conduct electricity. its the ions that conduct electricity.fr example, if we dissolve NaCl in water,it breaks into Na+ and Cl- ions. these ions help in electrical conduction
