Seeing how the core of the Earth is approx. 9032F-10832F/5000C-6000C, wouldn't one think the water would actually get warmer the deeper you went in the water instead of colder. After all you tech. would be getting closer to the Earths core and heat does rise, right?

It's kind of weird that the Midwest and parts of the East and West are in frigid temperatures. I thought it was supposed to be warm because of global warming.

Fix a positive integer n. Let A(n) be the commutative algebra generated by indeterminates xi, for i running over the divisors of n, subject to the relations
xixj = xgcd(i,j)xlcm(i,j)
for all i,j.
Problem: What is the Hilbert series for A(n), the generating function for the sequence whose kth term is the dimension of the space of elements of degree k in the algebra?

Two blocks with masses m1 = 1.10 kg and m2 = 3.40 kg are connected by a massless string, as shown in the Figure. They are released from rest. The coefficent of kinetic friction between the upper block and the surface is 0.250.

Assume that the pulley has a negligible mass and is frictionless, and calculate the speed of the blocks after they have moved a distance 52.0 cm.
