I first read the proposition in a scientific book about 15 years ago and was intrigued that there could be a value for the mass of matter in the Universe (albeit largely theoretical, unsubstantiable etc.). However I was convinced by Pumba the office techie that the proposition was false. For Pumba to be right, an infinite mass would have to be contained within an infinite space. Is this possible ?

Everyone loves an ice cream treat especially kids. So when Mr. Jimmies offered his 88 students an ice cream party, he instantly became their favorite teacher. The day of the party, Mr. Jimmies brought chocolate and vanilla ice cream and a stack of cones. he planned to serve 1 scoop per cone. But Mr. Jimmies had forgotten how unique young people like to be. "I don't want my cone to look like everyone else's cone." said one student. "We all want different cones, and you're only giving us two choices."

"Well, I could serve 2 scoops per cone," replied Mr. Jimmies, "which would give you 4 different patterns: vanilla, vanilla; vanilla, chocolate: chocolate, vanilla; and chocolate, chocolate."

But his students had other ideas. "There are 88 students, and we'd really like 88 different patterns."

Mr. Jimmies thought a moment. "Okay," he said, "but only if you can answer this question. If you each want a unique cone, how many scoops must be on each cone for there to be 88 different patterns?

This is how I am doing it as I have no background in math or physics hated them in college and passed with "very generous D's" aka all we had to do was show up and we passed.

I have to figure cubic feet for a remodeling job my husband is doing and thus the heating and cooling which seems to go by cubic feet.

This is an example of how I am doing it which I think is right but am not sure.

I am using my parrot cage! LOL

It is 36" x 24" x 48" in height.

So I take 36inches x 24 inches and I get 864 and then I take 864 inches x 48 and I get 41472.

Then to change it from 41472 cubic inches to cubic feet I am thinking to simply take 12 inches x 12 inches and I get 144 and then 144 x 12 and I get 1728.

So now I know that there are 1728 cubic inches in one cubic foot. So now I take the total cubic inches of my parrot cage which is 41472 and DIVIDE this by 1728 and I get 24.

SO...... my parrot cage with inside dimensions of 36"x 24" x 48" in height has 24 cubic feet.
