Not even a ping? I know that it only scans a limited/known band of frequencies and only about 5% of the cosmos.
But wait? The cosmos is , what? 6.5 billion years old and according to certain stataticians, the chances of life in other parts of our own galaxy is extremely favorable.
So certainly many millions of civilizations like our own, would have come and gone. Millions, even billions of years ago.
Should not the cosmos be alive with their transmissions? They have had millions and millions of light years of time to bounce around?
Yet?
Not even a ping.

I have regular 500mg Paracetamol tablets and Panadeine tablets that contain 500mg paracetamol and 8mg codeine phosphate. Is that 8 mg of codeine REALLY makes any difference? Is it going to be a significant difference or is it just a trick from pharmaceutical companies to make people feel better phyhologicly?

Every time I search for reasons we've spent $145 billion on the space shuttle program, I see reasons like fixing the space station, experiments on the effects of weightlessness, etc. Nothing, it seems, of any true weight or substance. Nothing that will change the course of humankind. Can someone provide a good reason for the crazy amount of money we're spending?

The (FALSE) proof that 1 = 2 goes as follows.
Let a = 1 and b = 1.
Then
a = b
If we square both sides of that equation, we get
a^2 = b^2
and if we multiply both sides of that same equation by a, we get
a^2 = ab
So we have these two equations:
a^2 = b^2
a^2 = ab
Let's rearrange both of these, to:
a^2 - b^2 = 0
a^2 - ab = 0
Since both of these equate to 0, they equate to each other.
a^2 - b^2 = a^2 - ab
Factor both sides, to obtain
(a - b) (a + b) = a(a - b)
Now that we have (a - b) on both sides, they effectively cancel out because we divide both sides by (a - b). As a result, we get
a + b = a
We initially assigned a = b = 1; therefore
1 + 1 = 1, and
2 = 1
Here, the value of "a' remained consistent throughout.
How can you divide both sides by zero which is (a-b) and get numbers appearing after that? Any better versions that can trick people?
