Depends. You're lucky that at least it doesn't break like mine does. When i get nervous or really shy, like doing a presentation for example, my voice breaks and its about the most humiliating thing that can happen. (Aside from excessive sweating of course lol)
I think that when you're nervous, your muscles tighten, and this affects your throat and voice box too because they're made of muscles as well. And the tightening (somehow) increases the tone of a voice.

It depends on the person. I think that a higher sound in your voice is less aggressive and less threatening and that's how a shy person would like to be under certain circumstances . But as i said before there are other persons who will not react this when they are shy.

yeah it does trust me im always shy n my voice sound so diff at home my voice is normal n wen im shy it sounds like a nice sweet voice lol

well, when i was shy, my voice change too. I think it is because you are shy, and you don't want to say anything, so when you say, you speak in a nervous and shy voicwe.
