Most definitions of irrationals that I've seen, basically boil down to merely stating that they're real, but not rational. This is a definition in negative terms: stating what irrational numbers are NOT. According to what little formal logic I've been told, formal, mathematically-logical, consistently well-behaved definitions are supposed to be stated in the positive. I 'd like to know whether irrationals can be defined positively: stating what they ARE, in general, universally-applicable terms; not just giving some specific, limited examples. If irrationals cannot be defined positively, how can we then define reals without referring to irrationals, i.e.: without saying that reals are the union of rationals and irrationals? ...And, furthermore, how can we then define complex numbers? How can we continue using Math, if such fundamental definitions cannot be stated in formal, mathematically-logical, consistently well-behaved terms?

Ok if Dinosaurs existed with humans then why hasn't anyone discovered a human in thier diet. I can't believe 40% of american christians acually beileve the earth is 10,000 years old and Dinosaurs lived the same time as humans. Dinosaurs aren't even mentions in the Bible!!! Isn't there some form of proof that shows the levals in the groud and how humans are much younger then that of any Dinosaur? I think Christians are whack to build a museum saying Christians lived the same time as Dinosars.

What is the logic behind the dating of fossils? Assuming that the minerals of the earth have a maximum age of 4.65 billions years, is that the age all fossils are dated as, since they have replaced all organic material with rock? And then the different strata layers seperate into different periods? Or do the fossils actually have a different range of years as in one being 700 million years or another one being 1.3 billion years. Example. Someone finds a fossil. They date it. The result comes came 4.6 billion years. But it is in the jurassic layer of earth, so they know it came later on in history and the big number only shows the age of minerals it is made of. I am only assuming, I don't know. If someone could confirm my assumtion or correctly inform me, that would be great. thanks
