The outside integral has limits from y=0 to y=1. The inside integral goes from x=0 to x=squareroot(1-y^2). Inside the integral we have 9dxdy, so the equation is integrated with respect to x first, then y. After the inner integration, I have 9 * integral (0 to 1) of squareroot(1-y^2) dy. I found a formula in the back of my textbook that works for integrals of the form sauareroot(a^2 - u^2) du, where a is a constant (a=1 in my case). And my answer is 9 * (y/2 * squareroot(1-y^2) + 1/2 * sin-inverse(y)) evaluated from 0 to 1. It comes out to 9pi/4, but I think it's supposed to equal zero in the problem, so what did I do wrong? Thanks much!

I earlier asked what the next number was....

1/2, 1, 3, 6, 12, 24, ?

....and a number of you seem to think its 48.

Indeed, 'scotty' was most scathing and said each number was a simple doubling of the number before it and you did not need to be Einstein to work this out. However, I would point out that 1 +1 does not equal 3...as least it did not when I was at school.

I had better give you another clue...

1/2, 1, 3, 6, 12, 24, ?, 120

I've read that a spinning ball, when it picks up velocity in air, encounters a free stream flow of air which acts in one direction, say left to right. Can someone explain from here how a ball, spinning in clockwise direction, causes a force to be constituted? I just want a clearer picture of this. I don't understand the explanation about the change in velocity, and then pressure, and then a net force up.

Since the ball spins clockwise, so the free stream flow over the top of the ball is assisted by the circular flow; the free stream flow below the ball is opposed by the circular flow.
The above is extracted from a source. So, i was thinking, since the velocity of air is lower below the ball and higher above the ball, (assuming its spinning in clockwise direction like how ur finger does when pointing to the screen) can i apply Bernoulli's Principle here? Where lower velocity means higher pressure and higher velocity means lower pressure, and so constitutes an upward force as well.

When bears were anesthetized, researchers measured the distance (in inches) around their chests and they weigher the bears (inpounds). Based on the results, does a bear's weight seem to be related to its chest size? Do the results change if the chest measurements are converted to feet? ( you need to determine r)

X Chest (in.), Y Weight (lb.) (X,Y) 26,90; 45,344; 54,416; 49,348; 41,262; 49,360; 44,332; 19,34

Is there a linear corielation? How strong? Positive or Negitive correlated? Predict the weight of a bear whose chest measures 30 in.?

My friend recently went to Vietnam. Knowing that I am prior military, he bought me a zippo lighter that was used during the Vietnam War/Conflict by an American.

I would like to return this zippo to the family of the soldier who it belong to. However, all of the information has been covered by a Vietnamese Symbol that was glued to the zippo.

I would like to know how I can remove the symbol from the zippo without ruining the zippo itself.

Can anybody help me with removing a metal symbol from a metal zippo? It appears to have been glued on.

Thanks!
