I earlier asked what the next number was....

1/2, 1, 3, 6, 12, 24, ?

....and a number of you seem to think its 48.

Indeed, 'scotty' was most scathing and said each number was a simple doubling of the number before it and you did not need to be Einstein to work this out. However, I would point out that 1 +1 does not equal 3...as least it did not when I was at school.

I had better give you another clue...

1/2, 1, 3, 6, 12, 24, ?, 120

30...as in 30d = 2/6 (or Half a Crown) in old money...the sequence is the old (pre-decimal ) value of our coins (in old pence) & 120d is 10/- Ten Shillings or a Ten bob note...

PS Don't forget 1/4d (A Farthing), 60d (5/- Five Shillings or a Crown) & then 240d = 20/- = £1 ...
