With the recent news that there might have recently been water on Mars, people are wondering if that means there is/has been life there, but why does water have to exist for life to exist. Couldn't life on another planet have developed in a manner much different from our own?

1. when the criminal is an identical twin

2. when the criminal is not the same sex as the victim

3. when the criminal does not share the same ethnic characteristics as the victim

4. when the criminal did not eat the same food as the victim

since its undefined when x = 2, can you apply l'hopitals rule and the limit is 5/4?
also for x approaches 0 for e^x-1-x/ sin[x], is it eventually 0 after you apply the rule? thanks people

"NASA's plans for returning people to the moon -- an objective called for by President Bush in 2004 -- includes establishing a permanent outpost that would be used to prepare for a manned trip to Mars" - CNN
The coming asteroid is going to pass through Earth's gravitational key-hole in 2029, and impact the Earth seven years later. Is it possible that world's scientist's have determined that stopping the asteroid is wishful thinking, and maybe after doing a risk asessment have determined that building a moon colony to shelter key individuals is more plausable. Maybe they are related, maybe not - but it does seem suspicious. Considering how hard and difficult it is to do these calculations, if they had determined it was dangerous, would they tell us?

A stone is dropped from the roof of a high building. A second stone is dropped 3.00 s later. How far apart are the stones when the second one has reached a speed of 14.0 m/s?

Basically, I found Vi, Vf, X, A, T for the first stone and for the second stone. For the second stone, I found out at what time it is that the 14m/s velocity is reached. From there, I used basic kinematics formulas and then subtracted the answers, but that also is wrong. can anyone help with equation

Ok it seems that since I was a little kid I have been hopeless at Math! My dad and little brother have a real talent for it, but my mom, me, and my older brother are not big Math fans. However, neither are as bad as me.
Ever since I can remember, it has been A's in everything, and then a fat old B in Math to ruin it for me. Now I am in High School as a freshman and taking Algebra 1.
I have a 73 (probably lower now) in Math and I'm scared it'll go down even more. I try at Math but then I end up getting a, say, 70 in what I worked ard for and I feel like giving up.
Whenever I sit down to that Math homework or that big test, I ust cannot bring myself to study.
Let's say I know a test is a week away. I leave it all till the day before the test. Then I skim through the chapter and say, "Oh! I know this, this, this....." without actually trying the problems. They look so easy then!
But when the test arrives in front of me, I blank or choke. I forget EVERYTHING.

a flying aeroplane experiences loads of forces.....thrust, drag, lift, and weight or gravity. i know that when a plane is cruising, thrust and drag cancel each other out and similarly, lift and weight cancel each other out because both pairs consist of equal and opposite forces.
however, i found out that when a plane is accelerating or decelerating, taking off or landing, it experiences some forces (either thrust, drag, lift, weight or all of them at the same time). I know this must be a very confusing question for people who know a lot about aeroplanes, but i am just a A level student, doing a presentation on fibreglass in which i do this calculation showing that fibreglass is a suitable material for using in the new Airbus A380. i don't have to go so much into the physics of flying aeroplanes so this much information is fine for me.
i calculated the pressure experienced by the plane by Force/Area, does the answer 3.06 kNewtons/m2 seem like a very small pressure on an airbus A380?

whats the meaning of "tight" here? it means "restricted" or "fixed"? (in math)

We use o-notation to denote an upper bound that is not asymptotically tight.
