Okay, I think I have a better description of what I was getting at before now. When you read about the perception of passing time at light speed, there are descriptions of, for example, something moving at light speed observing something that isn't and vice versa and their perceptions being different to reality. BUT, in these cases, the people at light speed are actually passing through time at a different rate, I know this is to do with the fact that they are travelling but... Oh dear, I am confusing myself more now! Somewhere in that is something to do with flies perceiving things as faster than we do but I don't know if i am making enough sense for anyone to explain it to me!

What would be the partial derivative with respect to y for the following function: f(x,y)=x^2sin(3xy)?

I think I should use the product rule and treat x as a constant, but beyond that I am lost.

here is the problem

The Peoria Bottle Company manufactures bottles from mixtures of recycled white, brown,
and green glass and they are considering purchasing from two new recycling sources. The
depots on the North End and on the West Side have bottle collection days, and the bottles
collected in the North End are consistently in the mixture 92% white glass, 6% brown glass,
and 2% green glass, while the bottles collected on the West Side are consistently in the
mixture 70% white glass, 20% brown glass, and 10% green glass. The company wants to
determine what bottle types { i.e., what bottles of differing proportions of white, brown and
green glass { can be manufactured from the use of these two sources alone. (Remark: It is
unproffitable to attempt to sort the recycling.)

After reading this does any one know why the glass has to be between 2 and 10 percent.

Displacement:_________ feet.

Total distance traveled: ________feet.

I have found the displacement to be 3.35619449019 but, I can not find the total distance traveled. Can someone please help me with this.... Thanks

A cylindrical hole of radius 3 is bored horizontally, exactly through the center of a solid sphere of radius 5. Use the washer method to find the volume of the remaining portion of the sphere.

I took the inner radius of the washer to be 3, and the outer radius to be 5. Doing it this way I get the area to be:

pi(5)^2 - pi(3)^2 = 16pi

However there is no formula there to set up an integral to get the volume, so I must be doing something wrong but I'm not sure what.
