if xy != 0 then

x-y
---- x over x equal expression of 1
xy

leaves 1(-y/y) = -y

If you mean (x-y)/(xy) then the ans is (1/y) - (1/x).

if you mean x-(y/xy), then it is x-(1/x)

that expression is already quite simplified. it also equals 1/y - 1/x.
