first you factor Common Multiple, 2 and receive

2(a²+6a+9)

Now factor and receive

2(a+3)(a+3)

2a² +12a +18 = 2(a² +6a + 9) = 2(a+3)² .

2(a^2 + 6a + 9)

we make the X sign as in the pic
and put 2 numbers (on the left side that when we multiply we get (2a²)
and on the left side two nubers when we multiply get 18
on a condition when we multiply the numbers on the same line we get two numbers that their sum (difference incase the last term (18)is -ve) = 12
then we put the middle term's sign as the last term is +ve (we put a simillar sign of the middle term to the great number and a different sign to the smallest in case the last term is -ve)
so we have
2a² +12a +18 =
(2a + 6) + (a + 3)
