An engineer wishes to design a curved exit ramp for a toll road in such a way that a car will not have to rely on friction to round the curve without skidding. He does so by banking the road in such a way that the necessary force causeinf the centripetal acceleration will be supplied by the component of the normal force toward the centere of the circular path. A) Show that for a given speed of v and a radius of r, the curve must be banked at the angle theta such that tan theta is v^2/ rg. B) Find the angle at which the curve should be banked if a typical car rounds it at a 50 m. radius and a speed of 13.4 m/s

and P = (2x + 3y - 2)A + (3x + 2y + 5)B
Q = (-x + 4y - 2)A + (3x - 4y + 7)B

find x, y; such that 7P = 3Q.

I have no issues doing gradients really.

Grad_f(x,y,z) = partial derive(x)i + partial derive(y)j + partial derive(z)k

Then i get tossed f(x,y,z) like this

f(x,y,z) = (sqrt(x^2+y^2+z^2))^n, n>=2

would my steps be to forget about the n>=2 bit, do my normal method of gradient then chuck the n>=2 back in at the end?

Thanks,

The season came for ripe apples. On the first day, 1 apple dropped. On the 2nd day...5 apples fell. The next day, 14 apples were lying on the ground, and the 4th day...there were 30 apples.........how many apples would be on the ground on the 10th day and what is the pattern???

everyday after the apples dropped, the little animals would take them, so the numbers aren't the cumulative number of apples falling everyday...
