you have a goat a wolf and a head of lettuce that need to get to the other side of the river. u can not get out of the boat and u can only take one at a time. how do u get them all over without one being eaten by the other. example wolf eats goat, goat eats lettuce. remember you cant leave them alone or they wil be eaten by another. how do you safely get them all across

If everything has a freezing point does everything have a boiling point too???

Ive always been told that if something can go to one extreme it can go to the other....i just find it hard to know that you can boil everything....(ie you can freeze a piece of wood but can you bring a piece of wood to a boiling point?)

College algebra recapitulation help?

Earlier today there were three questions by one asker:
1. Given a function y=f(x) and a point on it (4,5), then what is the corresponding point on y=2f(x-6)
2. If f(x) = 1/x^2 - 2x + 8, find where f(x) < 0; this one I could do, but I ran into a cubic equation and have forgotten how to solve/factor those
3. Solve for x: 4^(2x) + 1 = 2^(3x) + 6
On this last one, the one that has driven me most crazy, I was using log to the base 2 and some such; there has to be a more elegant way to solve these.

Could you show me how to complete this one..step by step..it's been about 20 years for me and trying to help my daughter is tough!!! HELP!!

Others are... (2x-1)(x^2+kx+3)=2x^3-5x^2+8x-3 and
(3x+1)(x^2+kx+1)=3x^3-5x^2+x+1
